In early May I had the opportunity to photograph a gorgeous intimate South Asian wedding at the Villa Christina in Atlanta. Their day was rich in culture, as well as love, and a pleasure to be a part of. Keep reading to learn about some of their beautiful wedding traditions, and to get inspired for your own event! For more details from their day, be sure to check out their wedding video, which I had the pleasure of collaborating on with Maison Media.

For her wedding ensemble, the bride wore her mother’s richly colored wedding lehenga. It featured long sleeves and intricate gold embellishments. She paired it with a matching floor-length dupatta and silver jewelry, including a maang tikka. Her hands were covered in beautiful henna designs. As for her groom, he wore a cream and gold kurta pajama. His pocket square was a rich red to match the bride! Once everyone was ready, I then had the honor of capturing not only a first look between the bride and groom, but the bride and her father.

For their portraits, we took to the lush Regency Garden! This intimate setting was the perfect backdrop thanks to the bright green foliage and filtered sunlight. It made the bride’s vibrant red and gold lehenga pop! The groom’s love for his bride is so apparent in these photos – he could barely keep his hands off of her!

With their event taking place in late spring, beautiful weather allowed the pair to host their ceremony on the Lanai terrace. It was decorated with elegant white drapery and green garland featuring blush roses. Following their procession, they partook in a variety of traditions, including the Varmala. An exchange of flowers signifies the acceptance of one another as husband and wife. With the ceremony complete, dinner was served, and the bride and groom cut the cake.

Afterwards, they retired to the stunning Azalea Ballroom. It featured floor-to-ceiling windows that flooded the room with natural light, as well as a crystal chandelier that sparkled overhead. All of the guests enjoyed refreshments, as well as a turn on the dance floor. And what a talented party it was! Come the end of the night, they made their grand exit beneath of shower of blush flower petals.
