Krysta and Brendan were my dream clients and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to be a part of their story. Keep reading to learn all about this darling couple, from their engagement session to their colorful summer wedding at The Wimbish House
My journey with this pair began with an engagement session in Piedmont Park. It was a beautiful spring session shot at sunset, which included their beloved dog Scout. But how did their story begin? With one swipe on Bumble! Krysta wasn’t a fan of online dating, but that’s how she and Brendan found one another. They eventually met in person at Milltown Tavern for trivia with friends. And while it wasn’t love at first sight, they both felt a connection and knew it was the real deal. Years later, a proposal would happen on a spring weekend in New York City – entirely planned by Brendan!
Their wedding took place on a beautiful summer day, much like the one for their engagement session. It was bright and sunny, perfect weather for elegant outdoor portraits. Brendan and his groomsmen got dressed at the nearby Moxy Midtown Atlanta. All while, at The Wimbish House Krysta and her girls were getting ready in the gorgeous bridal suite.
As the ceremony approached, we did a first look with Krysta’s dad upstairs in the bridal suite. And a downright magical first look with Brendan on the staircase. Krysta looked stunning in a simple a-line dress, featuring a jewel neckline and an intricate lace back. She carried a colorful bridal bouquet of white and blush roses, with pink ranunculus. Her girls were dressed in light blue bridesmaid dresses and carried similar floral arrangements, but with fluffy white spray for filler. Brendan and his groomsmen looked dapper in matching black tuxedos and bow ties. Their boutonnieres consisted of large white roses. Afterward the first looks, we snapped some gorgeous portraits in an adjacent alleyway, which was alive with all kinds of summer foliage.
As guests arrived at the venue, they were greeted by the cutest custom sign featuring an elephant and a bulldog. Krysta graduated from the University of Alabama and Brendan from Mississippi State – rival schools, both of which are in the SEC. The two hosted their ceremony in the elegant white and gold ballroom. It was outfitted with gold Chiavari chairs and tall floral arrangements used to frame the altar. It was a downright timeless setup! Afterward, during cocktail hour, we snapped some family portraits and a few more couples portraits on the iconic front porch.
Along with their guests, they then retired to the nearby reception area. It was decorated in the same colorful spring flowers and complemented by brilliant blue linens. Krysta and Brendan had their favorite BBQ for dinner, followed by the most amazing donuts – Brendan recommends the sour cream cake donut! The most unique detail, however, was the custom cowbells used for their grand exit. A nod to Mississippi State! I also want to give a shout to DJ Joel Rabe, who is by far one of the best DJs I’ve worked with – he had the guests dancing non-stop for hours. It allowed me to deliver SO many awesome reception photos!
It was an honor to be a part of Krysta and Brendan’s big day, and I wish them all the happiness the world has to offer! If you need a photographer for a colorful spring wedding in Georgia or Florida, check out my wedding gallery to get inspired. Or fill out a contact form and let’s chat!
Kind words from the couple:
“Five stars is not enough for Lesleann and Brackney Photo Co!! Photography was one of the most important hires for me when starting the wedding planning process…Our first phone interview was like talking to a friend, but one who knew a heck of a lot more about weddings than you do. She had the experience, stunning portfolios, excellent ideas, flexibility with packages, and spent time understanding what was important to us…Your search can stop here, Lesleann is your girl and you will be THRILLED with all aspects of working with her.”
